What is New?
We would love your help!
HVH is creating a facility cookbook! Our goal is to fill it full of favourite recipes from our residents, residents’ families, staff and volunteers. We will have a nutrition student from Acadia University here this summer who will be working on gathering all the recipes and formatting the cookbook.
Cookbooks will be sold to the community once complete and profits used
towards something for our residents.
We are asking each family to please submit at least one recipe that is a family favourite or tradition in their household. Please feel free to give a variety such as breads, desserts, main meals, etc. We would like to have all recipes by the end of July. Thank you for your support!
Submissions can be made to Nutrition Co-op Student Robin McLennan at rmclennan@hvh.ca
or at the dietary office located on the main floor.

Mealtimes at HVH At our last Resident Council meeting, it was discussed and primarily opted for, flipping our bigger meal from noon to supper time. With providing a very large breakfast, followed by the large main meal for lunch, many residents are too full to consume that meal (which contains most of their daily calories and protein). Due to this, many are quite hungry by supper time when the lighter meal is served. With residents’ input, we are looking at moving our largest meal to supper time. Benefits of this include: Improved satiety throughout the evening Less hypoglycemia with morning blood sugars Increased likelihood of consuming the large, main meal The ability to sleep in & have a late breakfast, without compromising intake of the larger meal Stay tuned for results of our residents’ votes! ~ Food Services Team
