Harbour View Haven (HVH) takes a holistic approach to programming for our residents. It is essential that each resident be treated as a unique individual with specific needs, interests and desires. 


Through a combination of staff, volunteer and community efforts, our programs are designed to offer residents a broad range of group and individual activities to enhance their physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual quality of life. Programs are provided for all levels of care on a regular basis.

RESIDENT COUNCIL

Resident Council is a forum that enables residents to voice their opinions on the services offered at Harbour View Haven. Residents can actively participate in the development of choices regarding activities, food, living arrangements, personal care and other aspects of life at the facility. 

Resident council also offers an opportunity for facility departments to share reports and upcoming events. The council meets every month and forum minutes are posted on all resident units.

SPIRITUALITY

Harbour View Haven recognizes the importance of spiritual care for all residents. For some residents, that involves attending morning devotional programs, hymn sings, and our weekly church services. For others, spiritual care is found in spending time in nature, in the garden parks, reading poetry and short stories from friendship books, or reminiscing about uplifting experiences from the past. With the residents and/or a family representative’s assistance, our Recreation staff will endeavour to develop a plan to meet your spiritual needs.


Harbour View Haven also has an active Pastoral Care Committee made up of local clergy and lay visitors, and HVH staff members. This committee oversees spiritual programming and outreach opportunities for residents, families, volunteers, and staff.


Pastoral Care services offered at Harbour View Haven include:

  • Pastoral visits
  • Palliative care support upon request
  • Regularly scheduled devotional and hymn sing programs for all levels of care
  • Weekly worship services
  • Monthly Communion and Memorial Services
  • Easter Ecumenical Services
  • Communion and Memorial Services
