FACILITY

Resident Units

Harbour View Haven is a 144-bed home for special care. We have semi-private and private rooms. Residents and family are encouraged to enhance their area with familiar possessions. There are 4 main units: Floor 1, Floor 2, Back Harbour Square, and New Haven. Each area is equipped to accommodate the people admitted to the facility; however, due to staffing, compatibility, and environmental layouts, there may be units more suitable for individuals.

FLOOR 1

Floor 1 is a 37-bed unit, with 1 respite bed, on the main level of HVH. Floor 1 benefits from its own dining area, a lounge and access to a large garden park. There are 8 single occupancy rooms and 15 shared rooms. There is a large whirlpool room and a separate shower room, to accommodate resident bathing needs. Residents from Floor 1 can access the main dining room and social events within other areas of HVH. Floor 1 hosts baking groups, small music events, BBQs and garden park visits in good weather.

FLOOR 2

Floor 2 is comprised of 2 sections - Cobblestone and Sunrise. Located at the second level of Harbour View Haven, it provides majestic views of the Back Harbour and the HVH Garden Park. The unit houses 64 residents, 32 on Cobblestone and 32 on Sunrise. It has the facility’s largest surface area that is conducive for walking and group activities. Activities that are offered here on a weekly basis are devotions, group exercises, music programs, bingo, etc. There are elevators that provide transport from Floor 2 to Floor 1, the basement and to New Haven. The unit provides shared living spaces and private rooms with whirlpool and shower rooms for each section.

BACK HARBOUR SQUARE

Back Harbour Square focuses on residents with dementia and is considered a secured unit. There are 24 residents who reside in this unit with a combination of double and private rooms. The unit is equipped with a dining room, lounge area, and access to the garden park. There is a multipurpose room with a spectacular view of Lunenburg’s Back Harbour that can be used as a quiet, more private area when visiting. The unit is designed in a square-like manner which provides a more meaningful walking area for residents. Therapeutics staff provide activities to the residents on the unit, but residents also enjoy activities off the unit.

NEW HAVEN

New Haven is the newest addition to Harbour View Haven and consists of 18 beds in two smaller wings. Granter Lane and Schooner Lane are both equipped with kitchenettes, dining rooms, a leisure area and direct access to a garden park. There is a separate entrance to this unit from outside but can also be accessed via the main building by elevator. Opposite the New Haven main entrance, there is a gazebo/deck for outside visits. There is also a family room which provides residents and family with another option for a quiet place to visit. Activities are provided on the unit, but residents often go to other functions throughout the building.
